Fun in the Snow

Last Saturday we had some fun outside.  Little miss marshmallow loved it.  She wandered all over the yard and did not want to come inside.

We built a snowman.  Cecily was pretty sure she needed all of the sticks...

Little miss got a sled ride around the yard and down the lane.

Saturday evening we helped Greg and Mary babysit all of our potluck kids while the rest of the parents got a date night.  It was fun and the kids were all pretty good.

We went to Bob's Uncle and Aunt's house on Sunday for their yearly potato supper.

Cecily is getting so big and too smart for her own good.  She's figured out Bob's tablet and loves "reading" books on it.  Her favorite is Noah's ark; you can touch all the animals and they make noises.  Kind of scary, especially when she was trying to do finger swipes on her real bible story book....

So I totally bribed Matt (and Lena) to come do some more light switching in exchange for supper.  Cecily likes Aunt Lena... Matt's still a little scary... hehe.

This old, yellow, fluorescent light is gone!  Yay!!

I'm so excited...  it's so much brighter when the new light is on!  Although, you can see dirt a lot better now.  Hmm.
And, as usual, any light project by Matt requires a few holes in the wall.  Or in this case a trench.  Bob and Matt decided that this would be the easiest way to get the wire from the old opening to where I wanted the new light (because of beams and pocket doors and things).  Sooo I'll be busy patching plaster and painting this week I guess.  woot woot.

Blessings.

What time is it? It's Valentimes!

Sorry to those who can't get that out of your head now....

It feels like we had a busy week

Little miss likes being pulled around in boxes almost as much as she likes pushing them.
Little miss and I made valentine cards while listening to Johnny Cash...  it's tradition.

Bob got Cecily a teddy bear for valentine's day.  I think she likes it.  *grin*

So I attempted to make fancy cupcakes for Valentine's day.  Bob gave me a cupcake book for my birthday and I tried one of the recipes.  The cupcakes themselves turned out great, but I think I cooked the frosting too long so it was a little stiff and marshmallowy.  I melted the chocolate chips in the microwave and tried to add a little paraffin but it wouldn't melt.  So the cute piped decorations were wilting a few minutes after I took the picture.  Ah well, they tasted good!
Bob got me a lovely bunch of tulips and irises.  They make me wish it was spring.
Little miss and I "helped" Lena paint one afternoon.  I think we were probably more trouble than we were worth.

Someone likes garden catalogs.  And stealing my dishtowels.
Friday evening Grandpa and Grandma Wyss had us for supper.

Sunday we went to the farm for pizza.

My rocking chair is all done (except for the reupholstering part).  Hooray!  I'm not really sure what I'm going to do during nap time now.  Haha.  I need another project.  Or something.

Blessings.

Progress

Slowly but surely, further in and further up!
My chair is sanded and stained!  It's not varnished yet because I haven't had time and I apparently didn't clean my brush well enough last time and it dried stiff... oops.

Bob brought Cecily home her own little bag of chips because she figured out how to get in the chip cupboard and would sneak off to eat them.  It's pretty much all she would eat that day.

So I got to play with satin and hot glue one afternoon...  hair options for Tonya for Nicole's wedding.
And then Wednesday and Thursday were painting days!  Also known as total chaos days...  Mom brought lunch over Wednesday and kept little miss out of the paint in the afternoon.  It was still a crazy mess, painting on one half of the room, toys all over the other.
I kept going after she left.  Bob had to work late and Cecily was wound up so I turned up the volume and streamed church services while I finished my first gallon and cleaned up some of the mess.  Note the paint tray up very high away from little hands.  hehe.
And this is little miss guzzling watered down Dr. Pepper... hey, she was begging and I got more painting done!
Lena and my Mom came on Thursday to help/ babysit and we got the rest of it done!!  I love it.  It's a pale green, sometimes it looks grayish, sometimes more greenish.  It makes the whole room feel more cozy and not so stark.  Stan does a great job at picking color.  (insert plug for Tim's Ace - Interiors Roecker's)
Ooo and hopefully soon we will be replacing the exercise equipment with my rocking chair and a chair from Austin.

Still not sure if I should paint the beam and re-stencil (really don't want to).

Silly girly.  I think she likes the paint and all the fun people who came to play.  :)
Thursday night I went to Apples of Gold after quick cleaning up a little bit.  It was really fun.  The food was wonderful and I really enjoyed the lesson... although, it was a little funny/ convicting because we were talking about loving our husbands and how we should try to keep a clean house and cook good meals.  aaahhh. um...  well, the last two days there has been paint flotsam, furniture, and toys everywhere, and Bob's had to bring home Wendy's and eat leftovers from the freezer for supper.  Yup, pretty much a failure.  *grin*

Blessing.
