Bob is always more worried about harvesting vegetables and digging potatoes than I am. Once they're picked and in the house I have to do something with them. If they're still outside, I can stay in denial.
Pretty sure he got a mouthful of sand. 😆
There was a wedding at church on Sunday, and some of the girls wanted to try on my dress again. And we got Perrin Bob's wedding tie.
Certain of the girls are too cool to play wedding dress up anymore. hehe... (that's my bridesmaid dress from Shell's wedding.)
Bob hurt his back and did not come to the cookout at Tim and Jenny's... Perrin loooooved the animals and Miri loved the swings.
Mr. Perrin discovered corn on the cob.

We read the book, ate some snacks, exchanged chartreuse gifts (hooray for ordering online for pickup!), and chased firelies.
And played with the decorations and Perrin threw peaches like balls.
It was positively bimulous. 😊
Leann and Co invited us to swim- it was a very cloudy, chilly day. The kids didn't care though.
Who care's if it's cold if you've got a large unicorn float!
Such a little boy, playing with trucks.
I went to B-ton to check out their architectural salvage store and came home with a couple more lights. I don't have a problem, I can quit whenever I want. 😜
The girls and I have been steadily working our way through the box of fabric strips that Grandma B gave us.
Some more willingly than others... Cadence needs more hands on help so I don't have many pictures of her, and Miri sits on my lap when she wants to "sew stwips."
We finished side 1!! There was great rejoicing. There's enough fabric for TWO queen size quilt tops. I'm planning on making it double sided, since I don't need two such um, colorful and eclectic quilts. 😉
We had a few Baer's over one afternoon. (Finally- Cadence has been begging to have them over for a looooong time.)
Grandma B stopped in to see our quilt progress.
And Perrin is pretty sure it's a parachute for him to play with.
There was a lull in garden and outside work so I had a little bit of time to start working on an apron for my Aunt. She gave me one of grandpa's shirts to turn into an apron for her. I like how it's going.
If you sit down at the piano, you will get a little buddy. :)
Like the old song goes, "Summertime, and the livin' is easy...." for some. Others of us are slaving over the canner. 😏
The last week of summer break we swam twice- once at the town pool (no pictures because I was busy with Perrin) and it rained on us! Then we went swimming with Mom and Michelle. There were biting bugs all over so the kids were hesitant to swim; then Perrin got left on the step, fell off, and panicked... it was not the best best afternoon at the pool.
But there were snacks.
And we did still have fun. 😄
Go outside!
They don't seem to mind the cold hose water.
MaryEllen got a new outfit.
After stewing, fretting, calculating, re-calculating, and upping my meat and cheese order, it was finally our turn to serve lunch. We set tables on Saturday and drove around and picked up food and counted slices all day. I was already tired by Sunday morning.
Perrin did pretty well overall. He was entertained by Tori's 'car! car!'s in the morning.
We were planning for extra people for the baptisms, and we had plenty of bread leftover, and a fair amount of sweets came back, but we RAN OUT OF MEAT AND CHEESE. Gah. I was/am so embarrassed. (I mean, how can I call myself an apostolic if I can't have more than enough food??) Also, I know that somebody who probably wanted a sandwich didn't get a sandwich and there were probably people who would have eaten more, but they saw it running low... *sigh* I know, I know, I always hear that no one ever goes hungry at church lunch, but that's not totally true. I've been nursing babies before (and constantly starving) and then you sit down late to the table and there isn't much left and you end up having to go home and eat a second lunch... and I didn't want to do that to people. Bleah. Yeah, I'll probably never get over it.
And then one of my children said they ate 3 sandwiches at lunch.
Anyway.
We had two last days of freedom before school started. I've seen this cool idea for flower pounding a few places and wanted to try it, and it seemed like something the girls would enjoy.
They turned out really cool! We pre-treated the towel fabric and I tried to heat set the pigment, but I'm still a little nervous to wash them. So summer-y and fun.
A couple of the kids thought they needed new back to school outfits... so we went shopping and got Chik-fil-a for lunch.
Perrin didn't want to sit at the girls table. 😂
Then they had to try on and show us all their purchases.
I'm not sure why the poses. Ha.
Meet the teacher night went well; grade school was first, then middle school. I usually end up so tired and overstimulated from all of the people in not that much space.
And just like that we blinked and summer was over. Mur. Back to 6th grade, 4th grade, and 2nd grade. Back to early mornings, which I do not enjoy.
Betty had some extra tomatoes, and my plants just aren't producing much/ripening very fast. So she shared and Perrin thought he had hit the jackpot with a whole basket of balls!
Bob went foraging again and brought home another puffball and some chanterelle mushrooms.
Tis the season to play kitchen tetris...
Michelle gave me her bridesmaid dress from my wedding, so the girls had to try it on. :)
The girls all got to go to KIDS night, which they loved, but after the first week of school, and church, they were grooouuuucchhhy. haha. Mr. Perrin is always happy, as long as he's outside and there is dirt.
Blessings.
