Once again I have lots to catch up on. The last of April flew by and May has been just as fast.
Warmer days means bikes.
Although sometimes it looks warmer than it really is... Also, everyone reading on the picnic blanket lasted about as long as it took to take the picture. Warmer days means bikes.
We dyed Easter eggs.
And painted the eggs we had blown out.
Perrin really wanted to paint too, so we let him play with watercolors. 😊Spring means that there's a chance we're all healthy enough to visit Grandma B.
Some games were played, then we chased Perrin around and around the courtyard.
Easter morning picture....
Mr. Perrin said "pictures is stooopid" and hid under the table. So.
We went to Lori and Herbs for supper that evening which was great fun as always.
The kids had off school for Easter Monday and I needed to meet the road commissioner out at Firefly Woods. We 'looked' for mushrooms and ended up playing in the creek for a while.

Emmy found a mushroom!
Perrin got soaked, of course. We came home with four mushrooms total. :) So good.Mr. Perrin is not afraid of bugs or worms. I found a worm in the garden and handed it to him, he proceeded to pull it to pieces. um. oops. They insisted on a snack on the porch, but then it was too bright so they needed umbrellas.
I finished my socks! It's really hard to take a picture of socks on your own feet.... rather awkward angle. They aren't perfect, but they fit and are quite cozy!
I love spring flowers. Our 16th anniversary was on a Saturday so we went to the woods for a picnic lunch.
Our measuring helpers. ha.
Cecily was supposed to take a picture of us by the approximately house sized stakes we laid out, but it's not immediately obvious. We went to the farm for a few hours to play with cousins and meet baby Ivan, then we got takeout barbecue for supper.

The Beutels got together the following evening. Perrin found a dirt pile and happily played with trucks.
Bob was cleaning maple keys off the roof and gutters and somehow ALL the kids ended up on the roof. um. I do not like this, Sam I am.It was not warm enough to get wet outside, but somehow if Cadence has access to water everyone ends up soaked.
Random tangent... there's a book I remember reading as a kid. I thought I read it in grade school, and I thought it was an older book with that fabric covered hardback library binding. I've tried googling, and different find-a-book sites, and could not figure out what I could possibly have read. Some of the plots of books were similar, but not quite what I remember. Most of them were too new... if I read it in grade school it had to be published before 1994. For whatever reason it was bugging me so I inter-library loaned a couple of options and "The Well of Sacrifice" is the closest to what I remember. And it was published in 1999 when I would have been in 8th grade. So it's just throwing me. Parts of the story line up with what I remember reading parts I have no memory of at all, but it still seems like it's too new. It's maddening. I really wish there was a way to digitally access the catalog of the Grade School Library and the EMS library between '91 and '99... there can't possibly be more than a handful of books about Mayan sacrifice in circulation back then. Anyway. It was a good read and I'd recommend it even if my memory is failing me?The middle school kids had the option to go to a Chief's game with school, both of mine decided that they would rather not. Instead they had friends over for the afternoon. Kenna and Tirzah taught Cecily how to make pudding (haha) in between companionably playing their switches. Emmy and Elise were having fun with Elise's karoake machine. At some point the doorbell rang because Gwen, Lincoln, and another classmate wanted to say hi. I'm not used to having so many pre-teens and teens around. 😋Miriel wanted a unicorn cake for her birthday. It turned out pretty cute. She was so excited. I also put sprinkles on her pancakes that morning.6 years old already! But still such a goose. :D
Everything is a parking lot these days, even desk drawers.
I got the base frosting on, then she made these adorable penguins.Eleven years old already. I can't really believe it.She had much help opening her presents.
Bob took the top of the toilet tank off one time to show Perrin how it works and now he wants me to show him the water all the time... I don't usually because I'm not the fun parent.
We had a quiet Mother's day, which I love.
I put supper in the crockpot and Cadence and Emmy made brookies.
The middle school band and chorus concert was hot. All seven of us made it, then the air conditioning wasn't working well and Perrin was sitting on my lap. Sort of. He kept trying to sing along so we ended up in the hallway, which was marginally cooler. 😜
'Dese my favorite flower' he says as he picks the spent dandelion stems....
Emmy and I drove way up north after school one day to pick up a trumpet. A Bach TR200 to be precise, not a Strad, sadly, but SILVER. hehe. My heart is happier having a silver trumpet back in my life. It's been fairly dry so Bob set up the sprinkler to water the garden. It was a lovely evening and it wasn't that warm out, but somehow water is irresistible and the younger 3 got soaked.
Is May brain a thing? Because in between doctors appointments and school physicals and concerts I can't seem to keep my head on straight. I forgot that Emmy had a Sunday School activity so only 5 of us went to the Scholastic Bowl cookout and Students vs. Parents match. It was so fun. Parents won of course... haha. I missed a Chemistry question and it will probably haunt me forever. Neon. Neon glows red, not Argon. 😋 I did get a question right about 'Silent Cal' Coolidge, and I knew a bonus question about Titanic so....:) I'm glad Cecily enjoyed the year and the team and I hope she wants to do it again next year.
Cadence was pretty excited for Pioneer day! She had fun, even though she burned her finger trying wood burning. 😝 Between falls on the playground, dropping a drawer on her big toe, burning herself, she's been a little accident prone this month. Stop hurting yourself please! We may be hitting our deductible this year, but I still hate going to prompt care!
Finally got around to celebrating birthdays with the fam.
Miri is so excited to finally have her own Samantha!
Emmy mostly asked for art supplies. 😊The boys appreciated the book, "Is it a Butt, or a Face?" 😁Hehe. Mr. Buster came with me on a long drive to buy just a few more light fixtures. (It's not a problem, I can quit whenever I want.) We met the warehouse cats, Patina and Rusty, which he loved.
And I blinked and school is almost out, and we're seriously probably going to be breaking ground later this summer, and I've got surgery this week, and the world is at sixes and sevens and how the house hasn't fallen down around our ears is beyond me.
Blessings.
