Picnic lunch on the porch because we can.
It's nice having the older girls home all day, they can babysit if I need to go out and work at the house. And then they start texting me the advertisements for the products they make up- "Glatelade!" 😋 Bob and I laid the vinyl plank floor in the hallway off of our bedroom. The kids wanted to be helpful, but they just weren't really. Done! It's fine. It looks like a cheap vinyl plank floor. :) We knew it would... got to save money somehow. This part of the house is probably going to be pretty low traffic though, and it's good enough.
We finished it just in time to go help out at Grace's graduation party! My kids loved the soda bar.

Trim showed up. Those are really big piles. The porch columns got their tapered covers! Last years pool survived without holes somehow. On the first day of my summer vacation, I went down to the basement and painted trim...
On the second day of my summer vacation, I went down to the basement and painted trim...Mom brought Donna over for a tour one day. Lunch on the porch.I came down with a nasty cold and was coughing up a lung so I stayed home from church. Emmy made me tea with honey. :) Perrin discovered he could climb the big rock at the lake.When I'm feeling guilty for leaving the kids so often, I drag them along and bring the water table. And if it's really hot they complain a lot and are bored and eat snacks inside on the picnic blanket. I was fabric shopping for curtains and I am a sucker for cut-and-sew toys. Narnia! My brain is so scrambled. I'm trying to keep track of too many things and I don't always listen very closely because the kids talk all.the.time. and it's rarely super important. And then I look out the window- what is she doing?!- and apparently I told Emmy she could paint the dead grass spot green. 🤷😆As soon as I got trim painted, Conrad started trimming out windows upstairs! Eeeeek! I am a fan.Michelle came and got my kids one day and it was so nice to be able to just work. No interruptions, no potty breaks, no snacks, no fights. :P I laid the hearth tile. I have never tiled before soooo it looks like it. :) It's fine. We're thinking that someday we will get doors made for these openings, but for now I made some quick curtains. Popsicles on the porch. :) Rain! After a pretty long dry spell it was welcome. I shooed them outside with umbrellas until they heard thunder. Another afternoon at the house. Mom and Dad came and helped sweep and stain trim, the kids watched a movie in the kitchen. The air compressor kept kicking on and they would pause until it turned off. Ha. And then we got a whole bunch of rain all at once and it filled up the footing tile and someone who shall remain nameless took a super long shower and we had water seeping in around the edge of the basement and coming up the floor drains a little bit. Just enough to be time consuming and annoying. But I guess it forced us to clean out the basement more. Wood floors arrived! Finally. Cadence set up a lemonade stand in the kitchen. On the third day of my summer vacation, I went down to the basement and stained trim. Staining takes longer- more steps and I can only spray two of them. But I'm loving the color! Conrad picked up my doors and hung them!!! Eeeeeeee!! I walked in one day and immediately said, "oooo!!!" Conrad came around the corner and laughed at me. 😏We were sad that Merchants night got cancelled due to storms. Friday evening we went to the park for turkey. Perrin did not want Bob to hold him up to be "The Honk."I spent Saturday cleaning in the old basement, staining, and attempting to tile another floor. I had the pattern all ready to go, but I didn't account for the hole the HVAC guys (who we have a love/hate relationship with) put in the floor. So I had to move some things around and it wasn't going well. So I asked Bob to bring supper and the kids. :) I have no idea how to tile. It's definitely not perfect and I hope it doesn't totally fall apart in a month. Sunday afternoon means it's time for the T-fest parade! I strongly encouraged both girls to support the band and march the parade. Finished tile! I didn't buy enough grout so grouting took more days than it needed to, of course. Oh, and we did cat chores for a few days... I set a reminder on my phone so we didn't forget to feed them. My brain is that bad. Floors! Eeeeeeeee! Sorry for the inordinate amount of squealing, but it just looks like an old house and I am enamored. Bob's dad built us a mantel! I sent him a sketch on graph paper and somehow he translated it into 3D and it's beautiful! And heavy. Mom took Emmy and Cadence overnight. They did all kinds. Farm things, went shopping, visited Great Grandma... and baked a cherry pie. Cabinets arrived and there was great rejoicing. Sorry, not sorry, these windows make me swoon. Poor boy. Has to play in the rain water that has collected in the pool. The van was in the shop for a day and a half (*sigh*) so I didn't get much work done at the house. I still have miles of trim to stain, and doors and doorjambs to paint and stain. blah. But Conrad and Asa got started on the kitchen cabinets!! (And the electricians are like elves- they must come early in the morning because I never see them, but suddenly there are working lights in the kitchen!?) Once again I walked in and squealed and got teased for being giddy. hehe. How could I not be?? Blessings.
