Well here we are again...

The same old shape we're in...

Apparently, bathtubs are great places to play.
She made quite a few trips back and forth to get all "mise toys."

Nathan and Shelly came over Thursday evening.  Cecily was very excited to see them.  Bob and Nathan played nerdy games while us girls watched ice skating.  And little miss always wants some one to dance on the ice with her, which involves a lot of spinning, which makes me very dizzy.  I don't last long.  *grin*

Lena was nice enough to come over on Friday to help paint/ keep Cecily occupied and out of the paint (probably the most important job).  Right before she got there, I went downstairs to get paint brushes and discovered water all around the perimeter of the work shop.  Aaahhh.  It wasn't much and I mopped most of it up pretty quickly.  We're hoping it was just because there was a disconnected downspout extender on that side of the house; which we would discover after all the snow on the roof melted.  *sigh* We also discovered that Cecily is completely terrified of "scary fans."  Now I have a good way to keep her away from things- plug in a fan and she won't go near it!

So then we finally started painting.  It turned out more blue than gray, but hey, I like blue.  (Lena- I had to do a second coat of everything I did.... Matt has taught you well... hehe.)  Little miss is enjoying how echo-y an empty room is.

It's also fun to twirl and jump in all that space.   You can't really tell, but I had scrubbed the floor really well to get some ink and marker and random black marks off and it had definitely worn off the finish in a few spots.  So I tried some floor restorer stuff in the hopes that it would look good enough that I wouldn't wish I had refinished the floor...(Bob said that's what rugs and furniture are for...boys...) It worked pretty well!  It didn't take away the scratches but it definitely looks more shiny.
I'm excited to get the light and fan replaced sometime soon!

We babysat for Grace and Eden that night... busy day!

Then on Saturday Bob got the lovely job of hauling out all the random scrap wood that had gotten wet in the basement. So I guess it's an ill wind that blows no good... I'll take a little bit of water if it means less random junk in the house. O, and here's a picture of my new sewing setup in the basement.  Too bad it's a little bit chilly down there.

Little miss and I went to the farm Sunday evening for supper since my parents (who are fast becoming elderly snow birds) just got back from Texas.

O, and little miss loves bacon.  If I mess up everything else, at least I have done this one thing right...

Otherwise, it's been quiet.  Blessings.

Snow, snow, go away...

Is it spring yet?  Actually, winter hasn't bothered me much so far this year.  I don't mind all the snow- it beats brown and grey and dismalness!  But walking through the silk flowers at hobby lobby kind of made me wish for warmth and color...
We broke out the finger paints.  Little miss was very serious about her painting... and very excited to show daddy when he got home.
Thursday evening was potluck date night so Cecily got to go play with all the kids at Dale and Meg's.  We got Steak and Shake and then I made Bob help me move things out of Cecily's new room to the basement.  I'm pretty sure if I would have tried to move Grandma K's sewing machine downstairs it would have ended in disaster... and I told Bob I didn't want to be responsible for destroying a family heirloom.  And then Bob got to pry this random homemade peg rack out of the closet.  Yeah, we have fun date nights.  *grin*

Then I got to fill the gaping nail holes and repaint behind it.   Ugh.  This closet has been painted lime green and mint green in its past.  And there were permanent marker spots that bled through primer and paint.  Seriously people, closets should never be painted anything but white.  Plain white.  I went through three cans of leftover paint before I found the one that matched.

I wasn't really looking forward to Valentine's Day this year... for some reason it just felt, I dunno, forced maybe?  Anyway, but it ended up being really a good day.  The highlight was probably when little miss and I got to play delivery girls to some older ladies... so much fun to make someone's day!
Then we got to shovel the drive.... again... woot.  Cecily had a great time playing in the snow.  She was pretty upset that we couldn't build a 'no-man'.  Sorry kid, the snow's not wet enough...  she was comforted with cocoa and 'marshpillows'.
Now this is my idea of a great Valentine's dinner- paper plates and candles.  Not so much the cream soda, that's for Bob.  *grin*  We had pizza casserole (with pepperoni cut into hearts on top) and creamed asparagus.  Silly girl refused to eat the casserole, even though it has all of her favorites in it, and instead would only eat the asparagus.  Um... ok... if you insist...
We're Olympics fans over here...  somebody really likes figure skating.  She cracks me up.  She wanted to "eye-skate like a princess" one night and ran around like this for quite awhile.  If you can't tell what she's saying- "trickle lutz... trickle axle... tricky loop..."  hehe.

Blessings.

Snow and cold

So after a very busy end of January, February hasn't been too bad.  Other than cold and snowy.  Woot woot.

We were invited to celebrate Caleb's 30th birthday (with a bunch of random people that I haven't seen in ages) on the 1st  at Alexander's Steakhouse.  It was fun- I can't remember the last time I actually got to sit and talk to Mindy.  The food was good; although, Bob figured it cost about a dollar a bite.  *grin*  So much for eating out any more this month...

Cecily got to go to the farm for the evening.  I hear she got to see the cows and play in the snow with Grandpa, Uncle Jakey, and Nathan and Michelle.   She talked about the sled and the snow mountain a lot.

I really haven't taken her out in the snow much at all.  It's been so cold and the snow is too deep for her to walk in.  I end up carrying her which gets old fast.

One day she tucked Lambie in her collar.
And then we went out to "help" Daddy shovel... with Lambie... I guess it's like a scarf?  Her faces crack me up.

She crawled around on the snow plow piles for awhile.
And Daddy took her for a sled ride.  Not the best sled... rope's too short to pull comfortably, doesn't glide well, but hey, she doesn't care!  Our backs do though, so they aren't very long rides.
Water is better out of a teacup.
So I've seen all kinds of cute felt food, and most of my attempts have been failures.  But, I thought this one turned out really cute!  And it looks like the picture! Yay!
Little miss likes her pizza too.  It kept her busy for quite awhile one afternoon. "I makin pizza, Mommy, Mommy."
Hanna came to play one morning.  They played together pretty well, considering that Cecily is not used to sharing her toys or space.  And showing Hanna that she goes on the potty is apparently better motivation than anything I've come up with.  *eye roll*
Saturday was kind of a bad day... two epic potty training accidents do not make for good times.  Bob went out to pick up pizza and flowers for V-day- and a balloon for little miss!  She loved it.  The helium didn't last 5 minutes, but it's been taped and blown back up a few times.

Very well loved balloon... yes, she does sing 'little black rain cloud' and run around with it.
Want some supper, bear?  Oooooo, Shelly- leggings are not pants, right?  Look what she will wear and not take off!
Lots of inside time means plenty of sewing time.  I finished knotting the comforter for Cecily's new bed (that we don't have).  Which means I really need to get that room cleaned out.  And get a twin bed.
I used Grandma Koch's old sheets for the log cabin blocks on the front and for the back.  It got quite wrinkly in the dryer... oh well.
And I got a crib quilt done for the baby.  Cecily's is on the left, new one is on the right.  I tried doing a nine patch on point and I really like it.  Apparently we're staying in the 30's in 'the nursery' and moving on to the 60's/70's in Cecily's room.
For the record, I think they are both gender neutral and the new one should coordinate with the crib skirt and bumper pad, which I also think are gender neutral. Somebody decided she needed to help model "Joon-er's kwirt".
She helped me make them- 'I helpin jooner's kwirt'- mostly just draping extra fabric over them.  Hehe.  I'll turn her into a little seamstress yet.  Since Bob's already well on his way to making her a little nerd. *grin*
So yeah, I've been glad for a few slower weeks.
Blessings.
