Hail to the Orange

Little miss and I have been busy the last few days.  On Thursday we went down to Champaign to visit.  We met Aunt She-yee at Za's for lunch.  It was so good as always.  Then we went back to Shelly's apartment and Cecily had a great time playing on the window seat.  This picture makes me laugh... I'm pretty sure there's a picture of me a little bit older with this exact same stance and expression.

We went for a walk to the quad.  She was pretty sure she needed to explore and find sticks.  It was a little chilly, but still pretty with all the trees blooming.  And Urbana is so refreshingly lush and green.  I miss it.

Then we headed to Follett's and got new t-shirts- Cecily's shirts are getting too small and mine are getting worn out.  Plus, Follett's is going out of business. (Sad News!  It was always one of our stops when Dad dragged us to the ACES open house.)

And the Morrow Plots of Illinois are best!  No you can't throw shade on the corn, Naw!  *ahem*  Sorry.  I'll stop now.  But we did have to get a picture.

We went back to Shelly's apartment and she made us bars and we introduced her to Baby Einstein...  then Cecily and I headed to Sarah and Amber's.  Cecily fell asleep in the car on the way there so Sarah and Ryan (they're engaged!  yay! it makes me smile a lot!) ate BDubs in relative quiet until she woke up.  Amber got home later so we didn't get to spend much time with her before they had to leave for the evening and Little Miss and I went home.

She must have had a good time because she talked all the way home.

Friday was our anniversary and it started off bright and early with a meeting with the guy who's going to fix our bowing basement wall. Our garage door opener decided to quit working. *eesh*  Hooray for more things that need fixing.  Our garden finally got tilled, but not all the way planted.

We left Cecily at Rustin and Sharon's that evening and went out to eat at Seven on Prospect.  So good.  I ate waaay too much.  Bob got duck wings for an appetizer- they were really good, but they came with pickled green beans which were really strange.  I got seafood bisque which was amazing, and mushroom stuffed ravioli with asparagus and sun dried tomato sauce.  It was incredible.  I was too full to eat it all and the leftovers were just as yummy today.  Anyway.  It's kind of pricey so it's definitely not a restaurant we frequent often...  *grin*  We went to Grand Prairie briefly and then got Cold Stone before we picked up Little Miss who was not ready to go home at all.

Cecily and I went garage saling in the morning today, and I helped Kelly clean an apartment in the afternoon.  After walking around town for two hours and scrubbing a dirty kitchen for a few more, I'm beat.  Kind of like this little girly who insists on napping like this.  Hehe.  Whatever, at least she's napping.

Blessings.

Pictures

Four years already.

In the words of the Statler Brothers:
Oh sweetheart, it's so much fun to be reminded
Of how we used to look and what we used to do
And each time we make a memory I'm reminded
I can't picture me with no one else but you.

Blessings.

picture less

So I finally got my laptop back!!  Woot woot!!
Sadly, my hard drive was completely scrambled and I lost all my files.  I only had pictures backed up to January 2011 on our external hard drive... sadness.  Don't worry, they aren't gone forever.  I still get real hard copy prints regularly.  And the files are all still in "the cloud" since I upload them to shutterfly, snapfish, walmart, etc before I print them.

I think the biggest loss is going to be my Christmas card address list.... yeah....

Anyway.  This is my public service announcement to back up your computers.

We really haven't been up to much besides spring cleaning and yard work when it's not pouring.  *sigh*  I am ready for warm sunny days.  I have windows to wash!  And a garden that isn't tilled yet, let alone planted!

Blessings.

Alas poor Lappy,

Cecily got to him, Horatio.  Yeah... I was making supper and I caught her pushing the power button repeatedly (Why is it the only button that lights up?  Why?!).  So then it wouldn't boot up and according to Tom the windows partition is gone.  Whatever that means, I'm just praying he can recover my pictures and Christmas card address list.
Soooo....  I get to use Bob's computer when it's available and the tablet when little miss lets me have it.
Anyway,  Bob is even older.  He got ties for his birthday.  Lucky man.  :)  And some fun things too.

I am really not sure where she comes from; she does not get this from me.  hehe.

She likes her hat now.  Yay!
Bob thought she needed a doll stroller for his birthday.  She has lots of fun pushing it around the house until she gets the wheels caught in a chair leg.  Then she acts like her world is ending.
And... some more silliness.  This is a car seat cover that she is pretty sure is for wearing.
Yeah... we don't get out much.  *grin*
Oooooo!!!  So I finally finished my knitting project!!  It only took over a year... Maybe because I don't really like knitting.  But I love the finished product.  Pretty sure everybody but my dad thinks it's "different."   It's supposed to look like a Hudson's Bay blanket.  The history is here.
Just imagine how cool it will look draped over this chair that will eventually have a seat and back again (covered in brown).
Or, for Dad again, stored in a pack basket.  *grin*
So what's really strange to me is that Hudson's Bay blankets are "in" in the decorating world and I keep seeing them on pinterest.  Whatever, I think they're classic.  I just wish I would have used better yarn- I didn't think I would actually finish it so I used the cheapest.
We're getting her ready for the Boundary Waters...
Otherwise, it's been quiet around here.  We have not been up to much.  A little bit of spring cleaning, picked up some sticks, don't have the garden tilled yet, cleaning up the basement a little bit.
Speaking of the basement.  I want to put carpet down there in one room and since it rained we've had a little bit of water seeping in at the floor level.  AAAhhh.  How does one fix this sort of problem?  Do we need a sump pump?  We already fixed the grading around the house....  ugh.  I don't always like home ownership.
Blessings.

Easter

Hallelujah, He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

Little miss helped me cook our Passover supper.

Daddy likes to buy me powdered doughnuts...

Sprout was home for Easter so we spent Saturday evening at Bob's parent's.  The girls had an Easter egg hunt and then we dyed some eggs.  I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures.  And Bob was not felling well all night... no fun at all.

Sooo... my little sister told me she had a proposal a few weeks ago...  and then she said yes... and they were announced Easter Sunday which was quite convenient.  Morning service was interesting.  Cecily and I sat by  Mom, Shelly, Lena, and Kendra and it took all of us to keep her quiet and happy.  Then the service went long.  ugh.  I think they must not remember what it's like to have a toddler in church.  And not quenching the spirit is all well and good, except that it's already been quenched by my squirmy girl who keeps yelling "puppy!" and "cookie!" and won't sit on the bench.  Anyway, I'll get off the soapbox now.  We made it all the way through!!  So I got to hear the announcement from in church!  We sat with Kandace and Carli and made it through the afternoon service too!  There was great rejoicing!

Little miss fell asleep on the way to the farm and woke up ready for cookies.

Then she got to open her Easter Basket.  I couldn't resist the headband.

Nathan and Michelle joined us and I took pictures of them.  The progression was amusing.

"Oh, it's windy."
"Now I am laughing uncontrollably."
"Let's just try this sitting down."

Hehe.  Sorry Shelly.

We spent the evening at Paul and Jean's for Easter festivities.

aaaaand.... this is a video of Cecily putting her egg hunt loot in her piggy bank complete with several "dere"s and one snort (like the piggy).

Blessings.
