Bushes and Kansas and Labs, oh my!

I didn't think I was busy this summer, but I kind of am! Although last week my biggest accomplishment was trimming the bushes....and I bribed my cousins with Bible School money to help me. (I gave them money to give at Bible School....I didn't steal it and then bribe them- just to clarify)

And I went to Bern/Sabetha with the Bible Class, it was a good time! Kansas girls are definitely hostesses with the mostesses. :) And they're pretty cool too! So thanks Lindsay, and Maggie, and Anna it was great! The ride home got a little long with so many high schoolers, but I survived.

Monday morning I started my summer job at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research. Or NCAUR, the USDA Lab, the Ag lab, etc. It has been so much fun so far! I have an office....and a desk...crazyness. It's kind of scary because Dr. Ken keeps giving me jobs and leaving me. And I have to keep a real lab notebook. Yesterday I uninhibited a bottle of Glycidyl Methacrylate.....it says "harmful" right on the bottle. Tomorrow I start running reactions (by myself) trying to turn soybean oil into office chairs. Good stuff. They had a safety fair today and I got a free NCAUR laptop case for playing 'safety poker'. I like my job. :) Still not used to the early mornings though....sigh.

Blessings.

Early mornings...ha...I have to be up by like 9 so I don't even want to hear it! :D Glad to hear the job is going good.

You make it sound like you run a reaction with soybean oil and, poof, an office chair appears!

We so should have done fun things on the way to KS. What about our question and answer time? That was entertaining!

mike...um...hate to burst your bubble, but 9 isn't early. ;D

luke, it's magic. it's just one of those things that engineers will never understand.

heidi, yeah the q and a was fun...but it would have been better if there weren't so many people listening in. :)

Jenny,

If you have a problem with engineers then please quit using your electricity, car, computer, alarm clock, all of your house hold appliances, and even the lab setup that lets you do your precious chemistry experiments.

Without engineers, the suppposedly 'awesome' ideas of chemists, mathematicians, and physicists would never have been used for anything useful.

Without engineers, you would have to handpick all of your soybeans, and then hand process them to make oil.

There would be one good thing about no engineers. We all would have much more time to read our Bibles. However, we would have to use scrolls, because I'm pretty sure moveable type printing was 'engineered'. (ie Guttenberg's Bible )

So, I will stand up for Luke and support engineers.

ah yes, magic. also known to some engineers as "physics" but i guess "chemistry" could be added in there.

Bah, humbug, you actually deal with physical matter? Computation is where it is at, mathematics and algorithms. I scoff at your "magic", "physics", and "chemistry".

And I am waking up to go to work at 8am centeral, so there (for those who don't know I just moved to California).
